Each year, people of widely diverse backgrounds are selected to join our Public Allies Arizona AmeriCorps program.
Our application is open to any U.S. citizen or permanent resident at least 18 years of age with a high school diploma or GED. You do not need to be an ASU student. Legal histories considered.
We especially encourage you to apply to Public Allies Arizona if you are one or more of the following:
- Interested in or passionate about community change work or a career in the nonprofit sector
- Highly motivated to learn professional skills
- Open to diversity, new ideas and being challenged to become a better leader
- Able to commit to 10 months of full-time or part-time service
- Non-degreed
- Underemployed or unemployed
- Exposure to local issues and the nonprofit sector
- 10-month, full-time or part-time apprenticeship to gain real work experience at a reputable community organization
- $22,000 (gross) stipend
- Healthcare benefits, childcare stipend (if eligible), and student loan deferment for qualified federal student loans while in the program
- Individual mentoring and peer-to-peer coaching to enhance your personal and professional capacity to do community change work
- $7,395 Segal AmeriCorps Education Award for college, vocational training, professional development or eligible student loans
- Lifelong connections with their Ally cohort
- Access to the Arizona and National Public Allies Alumni Network for support and networking opportunities
- Participate in Team Service Projects
- Serve a minimum of 1,700 hours (full-time placement) or 675 hours (part-time)
- Serve as an AmeriCorps member
- Attend bi-weekly professional development and leadership trainings
- Attend team-building/leadership-development retreats
- Attend professional conferences and events related to the service movement and volunteerism
- Participate in 360° Leadership Development Feedback
