JOB SUMMARY:

The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance, landscaping and repairs including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating, cooling, laundry and other building systems for New Life Center's campus and Hope's Closet store while upholding the mission, vision, and guiding principles of New Life Center. The individual in this position will also assist with minor construction projects and support the preparation of casitas for incoming residents by performing essential cleaning, sanitizing, and repair tasks. This position will ensure general upkeep of New Life Center's physical buildings and grounds. The goal of this position is to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for New Life Center employees and residents.

Wed - Sat: 8:30a - 3:30p

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Facility Maintenance (New Life Center and Hope's Closet)

  1. Completes general maintenance for New Life Center's campus and thrift store in a professional, timely and quality manner.
  2. Manages the care and upkeep of landscaping on site.
  3. Performs routine equipment repair and troubleshooting, responds to maintenance work requests.
  4. Completes basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air-conditioning, plumbing, or associated work on campus and store facilities, using hand and power tools as needed.
  5. Makes periodic or special inspections of premises to determine repair work as necessary and completes related documentation.
  6. Accomplishes work within appropriate time frame.
  7. Correctly stores and maintains equipment, following safety protocols and procedures.
  8. Maintains work areas in an orderly organized manner.
  9. Contributes to maintaining a safe/productive environment.
  10. Performs a variety of labor related tasks and other assignments as needed.
  11. May serve as New Life Center's point of contact for on-site vendors and facilities-related needs as needed.
  12. Perform preventive maintenance to increase the efficiency and operating life of all equipment, buildings, and infrastructural systems such as electrical, mechanical, heating, air conditioning, and plumbing.
  13. Monitor utility usage (i.e., electricity, propane gas, water).
  14. Maintain effective working relationships with vendor contractors.

Agency Management

  1. Participate as an active team member of New Life Center's facilities program.
  2. Responsible for cleanliness and appearance of entire campus.
  3. Respond to security/fire/maintenance issues or alarms on/off duty hours and report to the appropriate member of leadership.
  4. Work cooperatively and collaboratively with a diverse group of staff and residents who have exposure to trauma.
  5. Knowledge of basic mathematics, including addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Other

  1. Help in building a culture of cooperation and collaboration among New Life Center staff, interns, and volunteers by modeling respectful behavior.
  2. Support and adhere to all policies regarding participant and program confidentiality.
  3. Actively contribute to New Life Center's trauma informed practice and philosophy.
  4. Participate in scheduled agency-wide meetings and events as assigned.
  5. Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  1. Combination of education and experience equivalent to 2 years of general facilities maintenance. Experience in residential facility a plus!
  2. Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and related systems.
  3. Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety codes and regulations.
  4. Valid Arizona driver's license and insurance and access to reliable transportation.
  5. Currently possess or ability to successfully obtain Level 1 fingerprint clearance through the Arizona Department of Public Safety. **
  6. Consent to participate in New Life Center's criminal history background check for Determination for Suitability to Interact with Minors.
  7. CPR/1st Aid/Bloodborne Pathogen Certified. **
  8. Negative TB test required. **
  9. Knowledge of personal computers and various software programs including Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  10. Ability to work evenings as weekends as necessary/required.

**If necessary, New Life Center will complete these areas of qualification during the onboarding process.
