JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title: Program Director, K-8 Programming

Employment: Full-time

Salary Range: $70,000 - $93,000

Reports To: Senior Director of Operations

Work Hours: Mon-Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm with occasional evenings and weekends

Supervisory Responsibility: Direct supervision of Program Manager team, with department staff of 100+ combination of full-time and part-time

SUMMARY

The Program Director is responsible for ensuring Read Better Be Better programs are implemented in accordance with established standards. This position holds responsibility for all aspects of the Read Better Be Better programming which includes program development, expansion, implementation, customer service and communication, measurement and oversight. This department oversees School and Community-Based (CBO) programming.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee comprehensive K-8 program evaluation process to drive and report program outcomes against desired goals.
  • Foster and maintain a network of relationships to support and sustain successful K-8 Programs across Arizona.
  • Develop, implement, analyze and, as appropriate, expand programs to support the Changemaker Continuum and overall strategic vision.
  • Work with the leadership team to ensure a strong strategic and operational plan to achieve results and meet objectives.
  • Develop operational infrastructure to support and sustain continued 
  • Oversee programming
  • In collaboration with senior leadership, establish effective policies and procedures to ensure excellent program delivery and the achievement of intended 
  • Navigate crucial conversations to foster effective relationships: promote transparency, navigate and resolve conflict and ultimately optimize performance within the Program Department and across external partnerships.
  • In collaboration with Human Resources, establish and maintain a reflective and positive performance-based culture according to RBBB values that allows all program staff to set goals, build on strengths, identify challenges, and to continuously improve as they implement the program.
  • Utilize leadership position to organize and motivate people across the organization to accomplish the organization's shared goals.
  • Recruit, lead and manage a program team of staff and managers (100+):
    • Facilitate weekly team and 1:1 meetings for Program 
    • Collaborate with the People Operations Manager in offering professional development opportunities for program team.
    • Set performance expectations and manage performance for Program 
    • Resolve escalated employee relations
  • Create and plan annual program implementation schedules and 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned that are required of the employee in this job. Duties and responsibilities may change at any time with or without notice.


 

REQUIRED SKILLS/ATTRIBUTES

  • Ability to conduct themselves in accordance with the Read Better Be Better organization, vision, mission and values
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in a previous role
  • Experience managing a team at various levels in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in developing programs from concept, through implementation to impact measurement and data analysis
  • Ability to work independently in fast-paced environment with multiple tasks and projects
  • Must be able to travel up to 200 miles per week to participating school sites (standard mileage reimbursement plan included)
  • Proficiency in various software including but not limited to Office 365 and Microsoft Office Suite

 

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 8 years of direct line management as Director, or equivalent position in elementary education or education-adjacent field
  • Minimum 10 years project and/or program management experience in elementary education or education-adjacent field
  • Bachelor's degree in education, nonprofit management or related field
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with child safety protocols and process development
  • Experience and/or knowledge of the Arizona education system
  • Classroom experience
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver's license

 

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a non-profit organization preferred

 

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This position operates in a professional office environment
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers and filing cabinets
