Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES and DUTIES

The Development Manager is responsible for executing day-to-day fundraising tasks to achieve Gabriel’s Angels' objectives. Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing annual campaigns (including tax credit)
  • Executing events
  • Maintaining the donor database
  • Supporting the foundation and major individual donor prospect program
  • Executing donor communications for stewardship activities

This role also involves:

  • Representing Gabriel’s Angels at tabling events
  • Interacting with current and potential donors
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of systems and procedures for development and data tracking
  • Coordinating annual campaigns alongside the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and the Marketing and Communications Manager
  • Supporting all elements of building a sophisticated fundraising operation, with a particular focus on annual giving and our two main events: a Benevon-style breakfast in the Spring and a gala in the Fall

DONOR RELATIONS

  • Execute Annual Campaigns: Oversee all aspects of annual campaigns from inception to completion. Collaborate with the CDO and Marketing/Communications Manager to write copy for campaign solicitations and acknowledgment letters, determine graphic and content needs, and execute the campaign.
  • Donor Management: Manage acquisition, renewal, stewardship, including recognition of donors. Collaborate with the Operations Manager to write and update donor acknowledgment letters regularly.
  • Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Support the CDO in planning, executing and tracking donor cultivation and stewardship activities. To include:
    • Quarterly Touches: Work with the CDO to create and execute quarterly "touch" initiatives for portfolio constituents, including pulling regular reports for the CDO to review with the CEO.
    • Pledge Monitoring: Monitor annual and multi-year pledges, including sending reminders and acknowledgment letters and managing activities related to our Angel Society members.
    • Regional Travel: If based in Central Arizona, assist with donor stewardship and cultivation activities in Southern Arizona, requiring occasional travel. Conversely, if based in Southern Arizona, travel regularly to Central Arizona for donor and staff meetings.
    • Automated Workflows: Create automated workflows to address donations and donor stewardship.
  • Grant Management: Track and manage grant tracking spreadsheet to include annual grant reporting requirements, submit reports to grantors, and handle smaller grants and LOIs prepared by our Contracted Grant Writer and reviewed by the CDO.
  • Organization Profile Maintenance: Maintain and update Charity Navigator and Guidestar/Candid profiles for Gabriel's Angels.
  • Database Management Support: Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date donor records in the organization’s database.  Analyze donor data to identify trends, preferences, and opportunities for donor segmentation and targeted outreach.
  • Regional Outreach: Assist the CDO with outreach opportunities in Central and Southern Arizona to boost revenue through annual campaigns, events, and tax credit gifts.

EVENTS

  • Budget Management: Collaborate with the Operations Manager to manage budgets for internal events, ensuring effective revenue and expense management. Provide progress reports and revenue/expense projections as needed throughout the fiscal year.
  • Communication and Recruitment: Assist the CDO in daily communication efforts for recruiting Champion committee members, building Ambassadors for our Spring Breakfast, cultivating past event attendees from all events, and stewarding event participants and committee members.
  • Event Logistics: Oversee all event logistics, including vendor relations and guest list tracking for our two larger annual events and several smaller events throughout the year, such as a VIP cultivation event and quarterly learning series.
  • Corporate Sponsorship: Assist the CDO in identifying corporate sponsorship prospects, conduct research to determine interest and giving potential, and work to help the CDO build and maintain relationships. Assist in writing sponsorship proposals and preparing post-event sponsorship reports.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build and improve development management systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Track and contribute data to program measurement and impact reports.
  • Attend regular Development Department meetings.
  • Attend weekly virtual staff meetings.
  • Contribute ideas, information, and articles for the general newsletter (sent every month).
  • Assist with community speaking engagements promoting the program.
  • Attend donor events & meetings with donors promoting the organization.
  • Development Manager will make certain all donor records are up to date and accurate.
  • Development Manager will assist in any other Gabriel’s Angels events and donor meetings as needed.
  • Prepare monthly reports for Development Department for staff and Board.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of the organization’s programs, projects, and goals to review and submit grant proposals.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two – Five Years Experience working in nonprofit fundraising.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, but equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Experience writing appeals, email copy, or other types of fundraising communications.
  • Strong understanding of donor cultivation and stewardship practices.
  • Experience with event planning and management.
  • Proven track record of meeting fundraising goals.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital marketing strategies.
  • Proficiency with database management (e.g., Bloomerang) and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Valid Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance card or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as occasionally required.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Valid driver's license, own vehicle, auto insurance and ability to travel within Central and Southern Arizona, and up to Phoenix for regular training & team meetings if based in Southern Arizona.

Remote Work Environment: Currently Gabriel’s Angels Central Arizona office is operating with a hybrid of remote and in-office work. If the position is hired in Southern Arizona, it will be primarily remote, with a possible future component of shared workspace in Southern Arizona TBD. Additionally, in-office/in-person presence at the Phoenix, AZ office is required as needed a minimum of 1 day a month. Frequent in-person presence will be required throughout Southern AZ. If the position is hired in Central Arizona, it will be at least 2 days a week in-person in shared office workspace and up to 3-days working remotely.  Periodic travel to Southern Arizona will be required.  This position includes approximately 10-15 evenings and weekends annually.
