Job Summary:   This role is an integral member of the Development Team.  The Individual Giving Officer is an exciting opportunity for a seasoned, data and relationship driven, fundraising professional who will be responsible for the overall success of the Major Gift portfolio including year round donor engagement, moves management, grant assistance, growing the donor base. This position is responsible for building and enhancing CASS’ individual donor relationships at the Major Gift ($10,000+) with a focus on creating and increasing sustainable contributed revenue for the organization. The Individual Giving Officer will have primary responsibility for sustaining and growing the number of low- and mid-level annual donors annually and increasing the size of individual donations.

Essential Functions

Donor Stewardship

  • Manage the Major Gift Campaign including solicitation, stewardship and cultivation strategies targeting mid and high level donors.
  • Work closely with the Development team to execute on CASS’s individual giving strategy, building and maintaining a strong and engaged portfolio of mid and high level donors.
  • Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and recognition in order to grow annual individual revenue. Ensure appropriate and timely stewardship of all mid to high level donors.
  • Plan, set goals and report progress to determine the effectiveness and outcomes of Major Gift program, including tracking donor acquisition and lapsed renewal.  Track campaign progress and report to CASS leadership and Board of Directors (via monthly Dashboard and as requested).
  • Collaborate with Corporate and Individual Giving Manager to identify major gift prospects within the position’s portfolio.  
  • Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and ambitions through a relationship with our organization
  • Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools
  • Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the board and other staff with their solicitation (e.g. provide portfolio development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications)
  • Acknowledge major donors through public and private recognition

Donor Communications

  • Responsible for implementation of department’s strategic communications plan, including drafting, review and distribution of marketing and solicitation direct mailings and electronic communications. Collaborate with the Development and Programs teams to craft donor correspondence and messaging that will deepen donor connection to the organization.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of major campaign initiatives focused on new and repeat low- to mid-level donors, such as tax credit/year end, Giving Tuesday, AZ Gives Day, and Heat Relief campaigns
  • Document activities and communications with individual donors/prospects in donor database to ensure that all relevant information is recorded.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on progress and outcomes achieved in relation to campaign and annual goals. Fine tune strategies and tactics on an ongoing basis to determine best ways to maximize support.
  • Assist Development Assistant as needed to ensure accurate record-keeping of all gifts and pledges into donor software system and the generation of timely donation acknowledgement letters.
  • Attend and participate in agency-related meetings, training and continuing education as appropriate.

Donor Outreach and Recruitment

  • Serve as primary contact for community, corporate, club and 3rd party fundraising events. Support planning efforts and logistics for events as needed in an effort to outreach and bring in new donors.
  • Work with Community Outreach Coordinator on fundraising messaging for low- to mid-level donor populations through social media. 
  • Share with community members and donors the story of CASS and our clients by conducting tours of CASS facilities and participating in events.  
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Nonprofit Management or related field;
  2. Minimum three years of experience in donor communications and stewardship for a nonprofit;
  3. Solid knowledge of analytical tools (i.e. DonorPerfect or comparable database)
  4. Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook calendaring, highly accurate data entry skills;
  5. Reliable transportation and valid Arizona driver license, proof of insurance and a 39-month satisfactory driving record; must be willing and able to use personal vehicle for off-site events;
  6. State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
