Bruce Thoeny Community Leadership Award
Purpose: To award a student leader of the NLA program who exemplifies high qualities of leadership in guiding other NLASA students to fulfill service to the community.
Award: An award is made available to the NLA program for students to engage in service to the community tied to competencies of the Certified Nonprofit Professional (CNP) credential. Note: all funds are used for the community service project and not awarded to a student.
Criteria: The student leader elected must:
- Be an upper division student at ASU in good standing (application on file) who is currently enrolled during the spring semester and actively working toward fulfillment of Nonprofit Leadership Alliance certification (Certified Nonprofit Professional).
- Have been enrolled in the NLA at ASU program for at least one full year.
- Demonstrate promise for a career in nonprofit leadership and management, particularly with organizations that serve diverse constituencies.
- Have the respect of their professors as a person of character.
- Demonstrate leadership or potential for leadership in the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance program.
How to Apply: N/A
Selection: In accordance with the wishes of the donor, the selection of the student recipient of this award is made by a scholarship committee consisting of faculty, alumni and community members. Nominations of qualifying students may be made by faculty/staff of the program.
Deadline: The recipient is selected prior to the annual Sr. Recognition Event of Nonprofit Leadership Alliance held in April of each year.
