ASU Lodestar Center hosts 18th Annual Forum on Nonprofit Effectiveness

Phoenix, AZ (March 6, 2017) - The ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Innovation recently held its 18th Annual Forum on Nonprofit Effectiveness on Friday, March 3rd, 2017 at the Tucson Convention Center in Tucson, Ariz. This year's theme was "Sustaining Social Innovation: Solving Challenges, Not Managing Them," and featured an opening keynote session by Jeff Snell the Chief Executive Officer of the International Folk Art Alliance.

Over 100 nonprofit professionals, board members, philanthropists, funders, community volunteers, and business leaders attended the event, which marked the 6th consecutive year the ASU Lodestar Center has held a spring event in the Greater Tucson-area.

The 2017 Spring Forum also featured an engaging panel discussion on unique examples of nonprofit organizations that have learned critical lessons while navigating the social innovation space. Attendees heard first-hand how they solved problems, while building a sustainable model -- instead of just managing them. Panelists included Deborah Embry, the President & CEO of the Tucson Urban League; Regina Kelly, the Director of the Pima County Grants and Data Office and Eric Majchrzak, the Chief Marketing Officer and Shareholder at BeachFleischman PC. The panel was moderated by Michael McDonald, the Chief Executive Officer at the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona. Pat Lewis, a Sr. Professional-in-Residence at the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy and Nonprofit Innovation offered a conclusion and critical findings presentation for the attendees.

The afternoon concluded with four unique workshops presented by our community's most influential leaders:
