Arizona-based nonprofit receives The Nonprofit Times '50 Best Nonprofits to Work For' recognition
The Nonprofit Times has released its annual list of the 50 Best Nonprofits to Work For, and an Arizona nonprofit organization with ties to the ASU Lodestar Center made the cut.
The Tucson-based Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona is led by CEO Michael McDonald, a member of the ASU Lodestar Center's Leadership Council and Southern Arizona Advisory Council. It ranked 47th on the Top 50 list.
"The Best Companies Group's Employer Benchmark Report tracked positive responses ... to 85 questions across eight categories," according to the story. "The overall average for the 50 organizations that made this year's report was 90 percent, compared with 74 percent for organizations that did not make the list."
The categories included leadership and planning; corporate culture and communication; pay and benefits; training, development and resources; overall engagement; role satisfaction; work environment; and relationship with supervisor. "Professional development, training, communication and confidence in leadership are among a number of things consistent across this year's 50 organizations," The Nonprofit Times writes.
The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona was founded in 1975 as the advocacy organization Food Action Coalition of Tucson. Today the organization works with more than 300 local agencies to provide 65,000 meals every day, serving 190,000 people annually across five counties in southern Arizona.
