Strategic Planning

Strategic planning provides the opportunity for an organization to determine its future through careful examination of the internal and external factors at play. The Lodestar Center offers organization facilitation, training, individualized consultation and leadership development as part of a comprehensive strategic planning program. Center staff works directly with organizational leaders to customize the program to the organization’s specific needs and desired outcomes.

Examples of services provided as part of a strategic planning contract

Leadership Interviews: Lodestar facilitator will meet with all or some of the key players to discuss expectations, challenges and gain insight into the organization’s future from multiple perspectives.
SWOTT Analysis: a crucial tool for evaluating an organization’s Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats.
Facilitation: Lodestar facilitator guides the group through towards outcomes during one or more Strategic Planning sessions.
Plan Development: assistance with drafting, editing and/or presentation of the Strategic Plan.

Capacity Support Services (CSS)

The Center also provides consulting services for nonprofit organizations in need of customized, individual support on specific capacity building challenges. On a contractual basis, the Center works with organizations to develop a specialized scope of work to accelerate change. Our highly-trained experts assist organizations on a variety of issues such as:

  • Volunteer management and human resources
  • Financial management and sustainability
  • Fund development
  • Philanthropy and social impact measurement
  • Marketing, communications, and social media
  • Collaborations and mergers
