Position Overview:
APP seeks someone with experience in community organizing to bring together a coalition of strategic partners around policy advocacy priorities in criminal justice, that will be determined through the coalition-building process.
Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with APP staff, identify and engage coalition partners, fostering collaboration and drafting a formal Coalition Agreement; organize and facilitate coalition agendas and meetings.
- Build relationships with legislators, government officials, and stakeholders to influence policy.
- Potentially represent APP in coalition meetings and other public forums.
- Create advocacy materials (legislative briefs, talking points) and mobilize grassroots support.
- Track legislative outcomes and coalition progress, adjusting strategies as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, public policy, criminal justice, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 2+ years in coalition building or community organizing, preferably in the nonprofit sector.
- Strong understanding of legislative processes and political landscapes.
- Excellent communication and project management skills.
- Commitment to social justice and APP’s mission.
