ABOUT DC RANCH:
DC Ranch is a 4,400-acre community located adjacent to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve in north Scottsdale, Arizona. The community is composed of 25 diverse neighborhoods within four distinct villages that interact with shared open spaces to create a sense of living with the land. The first home was completed in 1997, and there are currently 2,800 homes and approximately 7,000 residents on the Ranch.
DC Ranch is governed by three entities: DC Ranch Community Council, Ranch Association, and the Covenant Commission. All three entities work toward the same goal: to serve residents and create a community that is beautiful, functions well, and creates a deep sense of belonging.
OVERVIEW:
The Community Standards Specialist is responsible for managing and enforcing the guidelines and standards for the DC Ranch Association in accordance with the Ranch Association governing documents. This individual will work positively and in conjunction with the Community Standards Specialist Lead, and residents, to create desired outcomes. This includes routine inspections of neighborhoods as well as scheduled visits to ensure conformance with the DC Ranch CC&Rs, Community Standards, and Design Guidelines.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Thorough knowledge of the DC Ranch Community Documents and Policies ensures conformance with community guidelines through education, communication, and building genuine grassroots support.
- Creates educational and outreach opportunities for residents to better understand governing documents/rules.
- Prepares and maintains documentation for all inspections and infractions.
- Maintains database with records of community standards items and how each one was positively and appropriately handled.
- Respond timely and appropriately to resident concerns as they relate to conformance items.
- Photographs properties for infractions, as necessary.
- Drives neighborhoods periodically to coordinate issues observed in the field with Community Patrol, New Land Development, Builders, and the Landscape and Facilities team.
- Provides infraction status reports for the Community Standards Specialist Lead.
- Assists homeowners, realtors, and prospective buyers, with questions and concerns regarding infraction items outlined within inspections.
- Performs Resale Disclosure inspections for transfer of property.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES NEEDED:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as design guidelines, community documents, procedure manuals, landscape design plans, site plans, and other association-related material.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or concerns from owners, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in a professional manner.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to perform outdoor inspections in various terrain, and weather conditions.
- Pass necessary employment testing, which will include MVD, background and drug testing.

Professional appearance with proper dress code required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and be able to walk in Arizona temperatures for inspections as needed.
Work Environment:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to outside weather conditions and desert landscapes.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Management experience within planned communities, such as Community Manager, Code Enforcement official, or portfolio or onsite manager.
- Working knowledge of desert landscape design/installation practices.
- Understanding of horticultural practices is encouraged.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred, but not required.
- Excellent, effective, and diplomatic oral and written communication skills.
- Outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to multi-task effectively and efficiently at a high pace.
- Outstanding computer skills including Microsoft Office, spreadsheets, databases, and contact management
