Lifewell is a 501(c)(3) non-profit integrated healthcare agency, located in Phoenix, AZ. We provide treatment, services and support to individuals diagnosed with serious mental illness (SMI), general mental health issues, and substance use disorders.

We are seeking a candidate for our Board of Directors who is passionate about our mission and believes in our work. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about utilizing their expertise, experience and networks to assist Lifewell build sustainability and advance our mission and vision.

The Board of Directors supports the work of Lifewell and provides mission-based leadership, development, support and strategic governance. Day-do-day operations are led by Lifewell’s CEO.

As a Board member, you will:

• Provide strategic guidance and advice regarding the legal, financial and philosophical aspects of Lifewell to support our vision.
• Serve as an advocate and ambassador for Lifewell and our mission in the community.
• Attend and actively participate in Board Meetings, serve on at least one Board Committee and taking on special assignments to ensure that board resolutions are carried out.
• Review reports from Lifewell management and prepare for Board Meetings by reviewing materials and making reasonable queries of management prior to the meeting.
• Support, evaluate and assess Lifewell’s CEO.
• Assist in Board refreshment by recommending possible Board candidates, recruiting and developing new Board members.
• Contribute your enthusiasm and expertise to further the Lifewell mission and take part in special events, meetings, discussions and other happenings of the organization.

Lifewell Board Members should reflect any of the following:

• Public health interest.
• Professional financial interest—e.g., accountants or executives with work experience in the financial area such as a CFO, auditor, or lender.
• Professional management, business or legal experience.
• Active in political or civic organizations.
• Expertise in health and welfare administration.
• Demonstrative leadership.
• Representative of the community.
