General Description:
The League of Conservation Voters, Inc. (“LCV”), a non-profit organization, believes our earth is worth fighting for because everyone has a right to clean air, water, and a safe, healthy community. To ensure those rights are protected, we help people use their power to shape policy, hold politicians and polluters accountable, and influence elections.
For more than 50 years, LCV has grown into a potent political force for protecting our planet and everyone who inhabits it. We have built a powerful national movement with 30 state affiliates, and grassroots and community organizing programs across the country.
Chispa AZ, a program of LCV, is organizing within our Latinx communities to grow political power and civic engagement for environmental justice in Arizona. We build the capacity of Latinx families to influence policy makers and pressure polluters to protect communities’ rights to clean air and water, healthy neighborhoods and a safe climate for generations to come. We are growing the infrastructure and leadership necessary for Latinx families to hold polluters and decision-makers accountable, demanding environmental justice and equity for our communities.
The heart and soul of Chispa resides within grassroots organizing programs that engage Latinx families around local environmental justice issues. We identify local issues that will tangibly improve peoples’ lives, give communities a sense of their intrinsic power, and build participation and leadership. The local issues we focus on are winnable, easy to understand, and have a clear decision-maker to influence.
LCV is hiring two Community Organizing Interns to join our Chispa AZ program, who will support the Chispa AZ Organizing Director and Arizona organizing team in growing the capacity of our four Member-led Organizing Committees and engaging our community in our 4 working areas: our Clean & Green Campaign, Clean Air & Energy, Public Lands, and Democracy. Special projects include outreach for our entry point activities (hikes, gardening, trainings). The Chispa AZ Community Organizing Interns will join a Summer 2025 internship cohort that will have access to development opportunities including a Capstone project, informational interviews with staff, and organization-wide training and discussions, as schedules allow.

This position is occasionally sedentary; however, attending meetings and canvassing out in the communities is also frequently required. This position routinely uses standard office equipment including, but not limited to, computers, phones, photocopiers, and audiovisual systems.
