Organizational Overview

Good Works Grant Writing helps nonprofit organizations maximize their foundation, corporate, and government grant funding. We assist nonprofit organizations in growing their revenues by customizing our comprehensive grants management system to their needs. Services we provide include grant and progress report writing, comprehensive prospect research, and grant program planning.

Job Duties:  

  • Develop compelling copy for grant proposals, letters of intent and progress reports of varying lengths/detail
  • Download funder guidelines and application specifications for proposals and reports
  • Manage solicitation calendars and client dashboards
  • Conduct prospect research for clients
  • Conduct research of peer-reviewed research and official data to develop accurate and compelling needs' statements for clients' various programs
  • Attend monthly staff meeting
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Grant Specialists succeed when they master the art of grant writing, using compelling clear language that both speaks to the heart and builds a logical case to support the funding request. They are able to combine write persuasively, concisely convey information, utilize data, and weave in storytelling to create compelling narratives.

  • Detail Orientation/Ability to Follow Directions

Grant Specialists are often the first to look at a grant application or RFP. The success of the Good Works team relies on the Grant Specialist’s ability to accurately create detailed templates and ensure all requirements are met according to the written directions. In the writing process, Grant Specialists create high-quality work when attention goes toward answering all components of the questions.

  • Research Skills

Grant Specialists excel at drafting compelling grant proposals when they are able to incorporate strong, authoritative, and reliable research. The ability to identify authoritative sources, cite statistics to establish a compelling case for the need and evidence-based solutions, and review and accurately summarize research literature are key.

  • Resourcefulness/Self-Motivation/Reliability

Since all Good Works Grant Writing employees work from home and set their own schedules, Grant Specialists enjoy a great deal of independence. To be successful in this type of work environment, one must be self-motivated and disciplined to stay on top of the workload, resourceful in finding answers to questions or challenges, and reliable in meeting deadlines with a high-quality product.

  • Time Management Skills/Ability to Prioritize and Multi-Task

Grant writing is driven by deadlines and the Good Works Grant Writing culture allows complete independence and responsibility for managing one’s time. To be successful, Grant Specialists must be able to balance multiple assignments, plan work throughout the month, and adjust priorities to meet time sensitive deadlines.
