Part-time Contractor (10-12 hours / week)
The Bookkeeper serves as an administrative support person assisting the Pastor, Treasurer, and Finance Team in the following areas (including but not limited to):
- Providing bookkeeping services.
- Maintaining a financial bookkeeping system, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and cash receipts.
- Balancing ledgers, and reconciling bank statements.
- Preparing monthly financial statements and quarterly reports.
- Budget assistance preparation and stewardship program.
- Entering/maintaining annual insurance renewals and other business filings.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESÂ (to include but not limited to):
Major Position Responsibilities and Regular Activities include:
1. Provide bookkeeping and payroll services to the church.
a. Accounts Payable: Prepares and mails checks.
b. Payroll preparation.
c. Maintain accounting ledger using double entry bookkeeping for receipts and disbursements.
d. Handle submitted expense reports by volunteers and staff.
e. Set up and maintain accounting and employee leave bank/time worked records and files.
f. Request electronic funds transfers as needed and obtain approval of Moderator Pastor, Treasurer or Finance Team.
g. Gather and calculate data; prepare bank reconciliations and monthly financial reports.
h. Maintain a weekly petty cash log.
i. Keep track of budgets and provide monthly reports.
2. Oversee data entry of administrative volunteers for accounting and financial contributions.
a. Oversee Office contribution records and annual contribution letters.
b. Operates computer to enter, alter, or delete data to church records as instructed by supervisor.
c. Print/mail pledge and donation statements as needed.
3. Office Support:
a. Provide monthly financial reports and fulfills other ad hoc requests by staff members.
b. Enter employee leave bank/time worked.
4. Committees: Attend Leadership Council and staff meetings, when asked
Qualifications
1. Skills, Knowledge and/or Abilities:
a. Knowledge of basic accounting principles.
b. Proficient in computer software programs (Microsoft Office); ability to learn custom church software.
c. Ability to use various office machines (copier, folder, postage meter, phones).
d. Ability to meet deadlines.
e. Business etiquette.
f. Ability to maintain confidentiality.
2. Education, Training and/or Experience:
a. Three or more years with Bookkeeping experience.
b. Preference given to applicants with a degree in related field.

- High school or equivalent
3. Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- Work Location: In person
