Verde Valley Sanctuary is seeking an experienced non-profit Finance and Administration Director who is also passionate about helping survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Providing high-level financial management and day-to-day human resources support to the organization, the Finance and Administration Director plays an essential role in Verde Valley Sanctuary and is a member of the leadership team. JOB SUMMARY
The Finance and Administration Director oversees Verde Valley Sanctuary’s finances, grant management, and general human resource functions. This position will maintain accounts payable and receivable, run bi-weekly payroll, monthly grant billing, annual audit preparation, and participation, and work with VVS’s contracted accounting services to complete monthly account reconciliation, run accurate and timely financial reports, and monitor organizational and grant budgets. The Finance and Administration Director is also responsible for performing and/or overseeing core human resources functions, including onboarding new employees, overseeing benefit open enrollment, maintaining personnel files, and assisting in background checks of employees. The Finance and Administration Director will maintain a high level of confidentiality of information and is expected to model and uphold Verde Valley Sanctuary’s mission, vision, and values.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Provide high-level financial management and human resources support to Verde Valley Sanctuary and its employees.
- Assist in developing, monitoring, and analyses of agency and grant budgets.
- Ensure federal, state, and local employment law compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Serve as the organization’s benefits point of contact, including facilitating annual open enrollment.
- Be a passionate advocate for Verde Valley Sanctuary’s mission, vision, and values.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
- Any combination of education and/or experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in accounting, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Two or more years of finance administration experience in a nonprofit or government agency focusing on victim services, social services, or related fields.
- Experience with QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
- Valid state driver’s license or state ID Card.
- Currently possess or can successfully obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Ability to pass fingerprint-based background checks through the Arizona Department of Public Safety and required state and national sex offender checks.
PREFERRED
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting, nonprofit management, or a related field.
- Three or more years of finance administration experience in a nonprofit or government agency focusing on victim services, social services, or related fields.
- Experience with state and federal grant contract requirements.
- Bilingual English/Spanish.
