Description: The COMMUNITY RELATIONS SR Coordinator serves as a key member of the Outreach and Partnerships Department, under the general direction of the Outreach and Partnerships Manager. The position provides organizational support in the areas of outreach, community building and fundraising.

Interfaith Community Services (ICS) exists to help individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency and lead healthy and independent lives. The organization provides a wide range of programs to help hungry, low-income, and under-employed people move from crisis to stability, and to support older and disabled adults in living independently and aging in place in their homes.

All positions at ICS are expected to interact with participants, volunteers, and staff in a professional manner, reflecting ICS’s Core Values of Respect, Integrity, Compassion, Collaboration, and Innovation.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Faith Community Engagement:

  • Cultivate strong relational connections with assigned Faith Communities, including leadership and ICS Liaisons.
  • Foster support for ICS such as in-kind donations, financial support, and volunteers from assigned Faith Communities.
  • Partner with assigned Faith Communities to develop specific initiatives based on ICS’ programs and services.
  • Serve as a member of the ICS outreach team as a thought partner and creative catalyst for teamwork, and innovation in business.
  • Encourage and maintain mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among partnerships. Provide accurate and timely information to agency leadership so they will be fully informed about Faith Communities development and outcomes.
  • Conduct presentations and tabling at assigned faith community events.

Community Outreach:

  • Initiate and maintain positive relationships with community partner agencies/providers, community coalitions, chambers, collaborations, committees. 
  • Cultivate support such as in-kind donations, financial giving (fundraising) and volunteers from assigned community partners. 
  • Conduct presentations and tabling events in the community.

Additional Duties:

  • Participate in agency meetings including but not limited to staff meetings.
  • Serve as a representative of ICS for projects, events, and/or coalitions as requested.
  • Support the mission of the organization by participating in communications, fundraising, public speaking, and advocacy activities as needed.
  • Other assignments as directed by or under the supervision of ICS.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships both internally and externally to the agency.
  • Skill in forward thinking and ability to identify problems or issues and develop effective solutions, resolve complex problems, and gain cooperation among interested groups.
  • Ability to lead others to common goals and to work cooperatively with other employees, volunteers and community partners.
  • Takes initiative, both as an individual contributor and as a team member.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and to meet deadlines.
  •  Strong written and oral communication skills. Excellent public speaking, facilitation, and one-to-one communications skills.
  • Excellent computer and technological skills including database management experience.
  • Ability to engage and work effectively with culturally diverse individuals and in culturally diverse environments.
  • Ability to appropriately use, protect and preserve the confidentiality of information.
  • Understanding of faith community culture and ability to relate to faith leaders and members of diverse faiths, without proselytizing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, nonprofit management, business, or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Fluency and literacy in both Spanish and English is preferred.
