Job Summary:    Responsible for strategic planning, leadership, and execution of organizational objectives at the direction of the CEO. Fulfills mission-critical goals and day-to-day operations of the shelter, its programs, facility operations, computer systems, security, and construction projects including new facilities, building renovations, and inspections.

Essential Functions:

  1. Ensure appropriate policies and procedures are followed in serving the staff as well as meeting compliance requirements, regulations and high ethical standards;
  2. Responsible for the safety of employees and clients; oversee overall operational policies and procedures to mitigate risk for all operations and events.
  3. Oversee processes and procedures to ensure efficient, effective procurement; implement cost reduction and efficiencies where appropriate, compliant RFP policies with vendors, and responsible inventory controls, storage, and use of procured and donated items.
  4. Oversee all agency insurance, including general liability; manage vendor selection and renewals.
  5. Oversee effective planning, maintenance, and efficient use of facilities, technology, equipment, and vehicles.
  6. Oversee construction projects for new facilities, building renovations, and inspections to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  7. Assist the CFO in the development of the annual budget and proactively monitor expenditures by department, agency, and affiliate.
  8. Effectively collaborate with campus partners and outside agencies to advance the vision and mission of CASS to best serve its clients.
  9. Develop government funding proposals and monitor resulting contracts.
  10. Prepare accurate and timely internal and external operational reports, and statistical and narrative management reports.
  11. Serve on assigned committees of the Board of Directors.

Other Duties:

  1. Assume leadership role in the absence of the CEO.
  2. Represent CASS in the community.
  3. Perform other duties as required or assigned by the CEO.

Physical Activities and Working Conditions:

  1. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, moving about the building and campus.
  2. Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time to accomplish tasks.
  3. Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 20 pounds unassisted.
  4. Manual dexterity in order to use a keyboard and mouse.
  5. Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze reports and data.

Qualifications

Required:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in management, non-profit management, or a closely related field.
  2. Minimum of three years leading or managing operations for a medium-sized agency.
  3. Executive level of verbal and written communication skills.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and business acumen with a hands-on management approach.
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite applications.

Preferred:

  1. Master’s degree in management, non-profit management, or a closely related field.
  2. Direct experience collaborating with other agencies to fulfill vision and mission.
  3. Direct experience working with the homeless or impoverished.
