Position Description: 

Brophy College Preparatory is in search of a Vice President for Advancement who will provide strategic leadership and successful management of all aspects of the school's advancement program, including fundraising, special events, strategic partnerships, alumni relations, communications, and marketing.  As a direct report to the President, the Vice President for Advancement will join the school’s senior leadership team and actively contribute to strategic decisions affecting the school. 

The Vice President for Advancement will collaborate with the President and other school leaders to develop a long-term, comprehensive advancement strategy.  This strategy will sustain Brophy’s mission to provide a renowned Jesuit educational experience to every qualified student and to ensure that Brophy’s facilities remain commensurate with the caliber of its students, faculty, and programs.  As such, the Vice President for Advancement will have the opportunity to transform the lives of the young 

men at Brophy, ensuring they have the resources necessary to become the Men for Others our world needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the President and other school leaders to align advancement efforts with the school's strategic priorities.
  • Plan, implement, and oversee all fundraising programs including major gifts, endowment funds, annual campaigns, and planned giving.
  • Ensure efficient and effective administrative policies and processes for the Advancement Office.
  • Leverage the capacity of Raiser’s Edge and other related tools to maximize the effectiveness of the Advancement Office’s activities.
  • Engage in an ongoing process of the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major benefactors.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with alumni, parents, supporters of the school, and leaders throughout the City of Phoenix.  
  • Support the Director of Special Events to ensure the success of the auction, fashion show, power breakfast, and other events throughout the year. Provide hospitality to attendees at all Advancement-related events and activities.
  • Support the Director of Communications to ensure the school's communications and marketing efforts, including print and electronic publications, are aligned with the school’s advancement priorities.
  • Support the Director of Alumni Relations to develop and execute a comprehensive alumni relations program, including events, communications, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Manage the advancement team, including hiring, training, and evaluating staff.
  • Lead the preparation of an annual Development Plan that includes specific goals and metrics for assessing success across all areas of advancement.
  • Perform other related duties as requested.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • The ability to articulate and represent Brophy’s mission and values internally and externally.
  • The necessary experience in advancement and working knowledge of fundraising best practices to achieve an annual goal of $8-10 million.   
  • High level of emotional intelligence and affinity for building and growing long-term relationships.
  • Compelling interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Data-driven, strategic thinker with a demonstrated ability to thrive in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational, project management, and self-initiative skills including the ability to prioritize, focus, manage multiple tasks, and anticipate and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience in collaboratively leading people and managing teams to achieve goals while cultivating a high-performing environment where people feel cared for and supported. 
  • Proficiency with technology (requirement), and advanced dexterity with both Raiser’s Edge and Excel (preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree is a requirement, Master’s Degree is preferred.
