JOB SUMMARY: 

The Career Readiness Coach will report directly to the Director of Education and Training while supporting the Program Coordinator. You will have a crucial responsibility in facilitating career readiness and ensuring students transition smoothly into promising careers. The primary role of the Career Readiness Coach is to implement programs that bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world employment which will help foster trainees’ readiness and success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conduct comprehensive work readiness classes covering resume writing, cover letters, interviewing skills, job market navigation, career exploration, and workplace culture.
  • Accurate and timely completion of all required monthly paperwork, including individualized program plans for participants entering competitive employment.
  • Provide one-on-one guidance to students in creating personalized career development plans.
  • Organize career networking events, and employer panels to connect students with potential employers.
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating field trips to colleges, job fairs and other cultural enrichment activities.
  • Participate in participant enrollment and screening processes, ensuring a smooth transition into the program.
  • Collaborate with other instructors and staff members to manage participant case management and maintain regular communication on progress and job readiness.
  • Attend relevant meetings and workshops to stay updated on best practices and program enhancements.
  • Fulfill additional duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) preferred in social services, business, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in job readiness, workforce development, or teaching
  • Proficiency in conducting job readiness seminars and coaching session, focusing on resume preparation, interviewing skills, owk ethics, and life skills.
  • Ability to act as an intermediary and advocate for program participants in various settings, including the workplace.
  • Experience providing on-the-job training support, identifying natural supports in the workplace, and utilizing behavioral training techniques.
  • Strong computer skills, including familiarity with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of the Phoenix metropolitan area, local community organizations, educational and training systems, public agencies, and private industries is advantageous.
  • Strong ability to meet task deadlines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS NECESSARY TO PERFORM THIS JOB:

  • Physical requirements include sitting, standing, climbing, walking, lifting, pulling and/or pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping and crouching. Demonstrates the ability to lift 40 pounds and / or the ability to assess the lift load in order to ask for necessary assistance.
