Strong leadership is essential for advancing a nonprofit’s mission, engaging stakeholders, and navigating complex challenges. This course examines the principles of high-impact leadership, including the distinction between leadership and management, ethical decision-making, adaptive leadership strategies, and stakeholder relationship management. Participants will explore practical approaches to leading effectively in nonprofit settings and develop a leadership growth plan that aligns with their personal strengths and organizational goals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Describe the role of high-impact leadership in nonprofit organizations, distinguishing between leadership and management in mission-driven work.
  • Identify ethical challenges in nonprofit leadership and their impact on decision-making and organizational values.
  • Implement core and adaptive leadership skills to address nonprofit leadership challenges.
  • Apply strategies for building trust, managing conflicts, and engaging key stakeholders in nonprofit settings.
  • Develop a personal leadership growth plan tailored to the nonprofit context.

In this course, participants will be introduced to current models of leadership and seven core leadership competencies. By using a self-analysis tool, you will be able to identify your leadership strengths and core values. In addition, you will also learn methods for building internal and external relationships and applying those skills to a business setting. Finally, you will also develop a leadership action plan for achieving personal and organizational impact.
