Project Description:

The Phoenix Boys Choir and Phoenix Girls Chorus are seeking a part-time Senior Accountant to provide critical accounting and financial support for the organizations. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented professional who is highly collaborative and knowledgeable in non-profit accounting principles. This role is key in ensuring the accuracy of financial records and supporting the financial health of the Choirs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and respond to company email inquiries from choir members
  • Manage Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable processes
  • Prepare bi-weekly payroll files and coordinate submissions with our payroll service provider
  • Conduct thorough account reconciliations and maintain the general ledger
  • Assist with month-end closing procedures
  • Work closely with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and ensure a smooth audit process
  • Prepare the Forms 990 and 1099 for both choirs on an annual basis
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the organization’s budget, as well as forecast future financial performance
  • Work with the Managing Director to prepare financial reports and date needed for grants as requested, including data for SMU/DataArts
  • Work with Managing Director to maintain and update the organization’s finance policies and procedures

Qualifications

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in accounting or finance roles
  • Strong working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks Online

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experienced in financial reporting and analysis
  • Prior experience in non-profit accounting is strongly preferred, but not required

Supplemental Information:

  • Salary Range: Starting at $32/hour, with the potential for full-time to include administrative duties
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: None
  • Reports To: Managing Director
  • Employment Status: Part-time, approximately 30 hours per week
  • Benefits: Offered in alignment with part-time status
  • Level-one fingerprint clearance card and youth training – employment dependent upon obtaining and passing a level-one fingerprint clearance and youth training within 90-day probationary period
  • Remote/Telework Eligibility: Partial remote/telework options available
