Nature of Work
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Accounting Manager to join our dynamic finance team. The Accounting Manager will oversee all financial operations of the organization, ensuring completeness, accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role will play a key part in managing accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and financial reporting processes. Additionally, the Accounting Manager will provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in financial software and tools to streamline operations and provide strategic financial guidance to support the foundation's mission.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee all aspects of financial operations, including accounts payable, gifts processing, and payroll.
- Develop and maintain effective accounting procedures and internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Manage the organization's financial software systems, including Sage Intacct, Salesforce, and Foundant, ensuring data integrity and efficient use of these platforms.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, excellence, team building and continuous improvement. Ensure annual talent reviews and goal setting are conducted equitably and accurately and that employee performance is viewed at the individual, team, and organization levels.
- Work with the Vice President, Controller to identify opportunities for development, expansion of roles, and promotions and to address performance issues where staff may need additional support or redirection.
- Utilize the Microsoft suite of tools, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, for financial analysis, and presentations.
- Collaborate with other departments to provide financial insights, budget input, and support for organizational initiatives and projects.
- Stay informed about changes in accounting regulations and best practices within the non- profit sector, and proactively implement any necessary updates or changes.

Qualifications
Knowledge or Skills
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, candidate must demonstrate the following:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation strongly preferred.
- Minimum of five to seven years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with significant experience in non-profit financial operations management and fund accounting preferred.
- Proficiency in financial software systems such as Sage Intacct and Salesforce, or similar required.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Commitment to the mission and values of Arizona Community Foundation.
Other Requirements
- Proven experience with project management.
- Skilled in data and process analysis for process and automation improvements.
