Communications Manager

The communications manager will communicate the value of ASCPA membership, continuing education and advocacy programs. This position will curate and create compelling content to maximize our members’ growth using a variety of communications tools. The communications manager will set strategies and advise other departments on best practices in communications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Collaborate with staff and volunteers to determine content needs and identify subject matter experts.
  2. Oversee the production of AZ CPA magazine including curating and creating content, managing the editorial committee and working with an outside designer to create and deliver the final product.
  3. Coordinate and publish email newsletters.
  4. Create and manage content on the website.
  5. Build and maintain editorial/marketing calendar.
  6. Generate compelling content to support continuing education registrations and membership recruitment/retention. This could include articles, videos, podcasts or other communications.
  7. Develop marketing plans for conferences and professional development.
  8. Create campaigns and content for our student members to encourage them to engage in our activities and consider a career as a CPA.
  9. Manage social media accounts, including writing, creating images and videos to increase member engagement.
  10. Ensure ASCPA events are captured through photos/video.
  11. Communicate the ASCPA’s advocacy efforts in coordination with the director of government relations.
  12. Develop the annual communications budget.
  13. Ensure all content and visuals throughout the organization support brand guidelines and AP style.
  14. Advise team members on effective communication strategies and best practices.
  15. Evaluate communications programs and vendors to make recommendations to improve results and cost savings.
  16. Coordinating deliverables for advertisers/sponsors.
  17. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in communications, marketing, journalism or similar field and/or equivalent experience preferred. Experience in digital communication preferred. Excellent writing, editing, project management and organizational skills required.

Hybrid Position – Must reside in the Phoenix area. There are some required days in the office for staff meetings and member events. For the initial 90-day period, you may be asked to be in the office 2-3 days per week. Following that time, you can determine a schedule that works best for you in coordination with your supervisor.
