Position description
This is a rewarding nonprofit position with ACVREP, the organization that establishes quality standards and certifies the professionals who provide services to individuals who are blind or low vision. The Specialist will assist these dedicated professionals online through their initial application and their recertification processes using a robust database system that creates excellent work flow and efficiency.
The program specialist will, after an orientation period, work independently processing all applications. The applicant must have excellent customer service skills with exceptional organization and attention to detail.
ACVREP is a financially strong organization with stable annual fee income.
Responsibilities
As the customer service point of contact for all applicants and certificants, the program specialist uses the exceptional customer interface skills, developed in their career, to answer questions and provide assistance to ACVREP certificants and keeps excellent notes on all issues in the robust database system.
Processes all applications for certification and recertification of professionals within policy guidelines, but using judgement as needed
Works with ACVREP online test provider to schedule certification exams for those who need accommodations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred will consider Associates degree, experience.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to empathize with applicants and constituent issues.
- Meticulous in keeping detailed notes on all customer service issues and inquiries in their file
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills with strong command of the English language
- Very detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Thrives in an interesting and varied multitasking environment
- Self -starter who uses time efficiently
