OVERVIEW:
This position offers a communications professional the opportunity to work in a full-service communications department for an award-winning master-planned community. The Graphic Design Coordinator’s responsibility is to create visual communications initiatives and assist with project coordination. As a contributing member of a larger team, the position will have the opportunity to collaborate on various events and projects that the Community Council sponsors.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Visual Communications
- Provide design support for DCRanch.com, Ranch News, e-communications, and other collateral projects
- Assist in development and production of graphic design and page layout projects
- Create visual content that complements DC Ranch brand standards and marketing strategies
- Collaborate with the part-time graphic design coordinator on projects
- Ensure materials are printed, posted, stocked, and kept current at community centers and various areas around the community
- Operate and maintain the large format printer and track ink and paper supply needs for general use and special projects
- Upload photos to and maintain image library
- Resize, edit, and optimize photos for intended medium
- Coordinate print bid requests: prepare files for print and submit to printer
- Provide quality control over positioning and messaging of information that is communicated
Project Coordination
- Assign projects to part-time Graphic Design Coordinator based on workflow, skills and availability.
- Monitor incoming graphic design projects to the successful conclusion of the design deliverable.
- Assist with management of communications calendar (adding monthly and large project deadlines).
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES NEEDED:
- High proficiency using Adobe Suite programs (Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) on Windows
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Follow graphic design standards and best practices
- Work collaboratively to create visual content that complements brand and marketing strategies
- Skilled in and able to brainstorm, innovate, collaborate, influence, prioritize and execute
- Experienced in printing process, prepping images for print and digital media
- Ability to operate digital and video cameras
- Experience in video editing techniques preferred
- Naturally initiative-taking, self-motivated and self-managed
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and follow-up with requests in an efficient and timely fashion
- Works well under pressure and balance multiple priorities and assignments to meet deadlines
- Fanatical about attention to detail and consistency
- Occasionally includes some evening and weekend hours
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Four-year degree in visual communications, graphic design, or related field
- Three years’ experience working in a professional office setting
