Veterans Heritage Project (VHP) has been Connecting Students with VeteransTM since 2004.  Our after-school program is recognized by the Arizona Department of Education as a Character Education program and as the first to be approved in all four categories for the Seal of Civics Literacy. Position Summary:

The Development Officer works closely with the Executive Director to plan fundraising strategies that meet or exceed annual fundraising goals. This position is responsible for implementing fundraising and stewardship activities, including individual giving, corporate sponsorships, and special events. This position works to expand the donor base by identifying, cultivating, and soliciting new prospects, and continuing to develop and expand the individual giving program. This position provides professional development with the Association of Fundraising Professionals, and exposure to growth opportunities

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implement appropriate identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for prospects, volunteers, donors, and sponsors.
  • Manage annual giving campaign and planned giving campaign.
  • Work with the Executive Director and the support of WealthEngine to identify major gift prospects.
  • Work with committees to plan, manage, and implement fundraising, awareness, and volunteer appreciation events and activities.
  • Provide guidance to administrative staff in the management of donor and prospect records in Salesforce database, including administration of donor acknowledgement letters, while respecting the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.
  • Help identify, implement, and track key development performance indicators.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of donor contacts and ongoing communications with current donors and prospects.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as required to advance relationships with donors, boost donor retention, and facilitate transformational giving.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, with preference given to Non-Profit Management, Business, Marketing, or Communication majors.
  • Entry level: up to 2 years experience; or Mid-Level: 3 to 5 years experience
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to problem solve, manage multiple complex projects and priorities, while meeting deadlines and goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong interpersonal and networking abilities with the ability to represent VHP in the community.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Strong customer service skills, professional appearance, and positive attitude.
  • Ability to occasionally work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to be part of, and contribute to, a culture of performance, teamwork, collaboration, growth, and continuous improvement.
  • Computer literate and knowledge of Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Constant Contact, and Google Drive.
  • Sincere belief in Veterans Heritage Project’s mission and desire to support strategic goals.
