If you are a nonprofit leader or human asset manager, you are probably navigating a changed and challenging future for your organization and your employees!  You will benefit by understanding how to invest in your employees as one of the most solid strategies for sustained organizational growth and resilience.

This course explores the foundations of human resource management, including federal and state employment laws, compensation, benefits and human resource policies. Additionally, you will examine strategies related to employee engagement and retention, performance management, staffing structures, sourcing, recruitment and hiring.

Learning Objectives:

  • Discuss the core areas of human resource management.
  • Discuss federal and state employment laws and regulations that directly affect the operations of a nonprofit organization.
  • Demonstrate and understanding of sourcing, recruitment, compensation, benefits, and hiring strategies for maintaining a talented diverse workforce.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of various performance management strategies.

Each course will consist of article reading, discussion questions, authentic assessments, and self-tests to enhance learning and build upon prior knowledge.

NMI courses are taught using the Canvas learning management system and include a variety of multimedia tools and resources. To ensure you can successfully access the multimedia tools in your courses, we recommend you use a standard PC or Mac desktop or laptop. Mobile devices are not recommended.
