NMI Certificate Program courses are both intensive and flexible learning experiences. Each face-to-face NMI course features two full days of concentrated, hands-on learning. Online NMI courses take place asynchronously over two consecutive weeks and require five hours of study/participation per week.
For easy access, courses take place at a number of locations throughout the Phoenix metropolitan area and the greater Southwest region.
Rather than complete the entire nonprofit management certificate, you may prefer to take one or more of the 8 courses as stand-alone courses for your professional development. The Nonprofit Management Institute provides certificates of completion for each NMI course. Again, simply register and pay for each class as your schedule allows.
Purchase the full certificate at $2443
All inclusive package (one FREE course) - Sign up for all eight Nonprofit Managment Certificate courses and get one free (must pay in full).
Purchase courses individually at $349 each
(Intent to graduate fee is separate)
Group rate - 15% discount! Register yourself with two other participants and each receive a 15% discount (at least two participants must be NEW NMI participants).
If you select to purchase courses individually, you will need to officially indicate your intent to participate in the entire Certificate Program by declaring your intent to graduate and paying a one-time only $50 intent to graduate fee. After beginning the program, please submit your Intent to Graduate Registration as early as possible by visiting the intent to graduate registration page. When you indicate your intent to earn a certificate and graduate, we are better able to track and support your progress toward completion.
After completion of the program, graduates are presented with a Professional Development Certificate in Nonprofit Management at a Spring Reception hosted by the ASU Lodestar Center for Philanthropy & Nonprofit Innovation.

“The NMI Certificate program allowed me to develop my professional growth as a nonprofit leader, as well as identify where my organization was at risk in all the critical components. Each certification provided unique, comprehensive tools I could immediately implement. The instructors were 'masters' in their field of expertise and provided insight into real-life applications. The information was so valuable I could not take the certifications fast enough! The nonprofit sector has long awaited a certification program of this caliber. It was well worth the investment of both my time and money.”
Becky Miller | Executive Director | Arizona Transit Association | Gilbert, Arizona
“I have benefitted a great deal from my NMI classes. The classes helped expand my knowledge of the nonprofit sector and gave me great strategies to use in my own organization. I feel what I learned in the program helped me professionally as I was promoted to a director-level position while I was going through the program.”
Lloyd Hopkins | Regional Director of Greater Phoenix | Communities in Schools of Arizona
“The NMI Certificate Program has proven to be a great investment for my organization and is a ‘must’ for nonprofit leaders who want to secure the future of their organization.”
Gracie Quiroz | Executive Director | Catholic Tuition Support Organization
“Although I have worked in the nonprofit sector for over 20 years, the NMI experience provided immediate and usable tools that helped enhance my knowledge to become a more skilled nonprofit professional. It was great to interact face-to-face with individuals of all educational backgrounds and levels of experience that were committed to their organization’s mission and seeking to advance in their professional development just like me. I learned up-to-date trends affecting the nonprofit sector today and ways to lead and manage staff, volunteers, and board members more effectively. The knowledge learned in strategic planning, marketing, fundraising and resource development is invaluable. I would definitely recommend the ASU Lodestar Center’s Nonprofit Management Institute program to others.”
Gloria Payne, Health Program Manager, Arizona Department of Health Services
"Lodestar has enabled me to re-direct my career from the corporate world to a nonprofit organization with confidence. I have gained valuable knowledge and insight through class discussions with colleagues who have shared their organization's experiences, concerns, and achievements.
I believe that by pursuing a certification from Lodestar I have been able to quickly secure an internship and then ultimately a position with a nonprofit organization I have a passion to serve for. Attending Lodestar is one of the best decisions I have made! The staff has been fantastic too."
