Description

Since 1977, Child Crisis Arizona has been a beacon of hope, answering the call to prevent and intervene in child abuse and neglect while building strong, resilient families across our community. Our mission is simple but powerful: to provide children and youth in Arizona a safe environment, free from abuse and neglect by creating strong and successful families.

Why This Role Matters

If you’re a creative thinker who wants your work to mean something, this is your opportunity.

We’re looking for a Communications Coordinator who is not only passionate about storytelling and design, but who also brings ideas to the table, takes initiative, and thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment. This is a role for someone who sees opportunities for improvement, enjoys turning ideas into action, and is excited to help amplify voices and stories that truly matter.

You’ll play a key role in shaping how our programs show up in the community, helping families find resources, engaging donors, and telling impactful stories that inspire support and change.

And as part of our robust and growing Communications team, there is real opportunity to learn, grow, and expand your skillset over time.

Position Summary

The Communications Coordinator supports Child Crisis Arizona’s mission by leading program and center-level marketing efforts while managing essential day-to-day communications tasks. This role ensures our programs remain visible, accessible, and engaging while also supporting broader communications and fundraising strategies.

You’ll work closely with program teams, collaborate across departments, and serve as a key partner within a dynamic Communications team.

  • Make website updates and continuously look for ways to improve user experience and content

Digital & Social Engagement

  • Assist with social media content creation, scheduling, and storytelling
  • Engage with our online community by responding to comments and messages, answering questions, and acknowledging donor gifts with gratitude and warmth
  • Support website updates and ongoing content maintenance

Operational Communications Support

  • Order promotional items and manage inventory
  • Maintain asset libraries, templates, and communications calendars
  • Help keep projects organized and moving forward efficiently

Collaboration & Project Support

  • Partner with the Communications Manager and Director to support campaigns and priorities
  • Assist with event logistics and communications (with occasional evenings/weekends during major events)
  • Support internal communications and special projects within the Development team
  • Collaborate with program staff to gather accurate, timely information
  • Occasionally answer calls and engage with clients at the front desk during lunchtime hours

Who You Are

  • A self-starter who takes initiative and brings fresh ideas forward
  • Creative, curious, and energized by meaningful work
  • Passionate about storytelling, design, and community impact
  • Organized and able to manage multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Warm, collaborative, and excited to be part of a mission-driven team

Qualifications

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience or strong internship background
  • Proficiency in Canva and social media platforms
  • Experience creating content including video and photography
