The Associate Director of Development helps create the planning, coordination, and execution of fundraising initiatives to advance the organization’s mission. This role plays a key part in donor cultivation and stewardship, prospect research, event support, and development operations. The Associate Director partners closely with the development team and other internal stakeholders to drive annual giving, major gifts pipeline development, and donor engagement strategies. All employees are expected to do everything within their power to ensure that clients leave the facility feeling a little better than when they arrived. 

Duties & Responsibilities: 

Fundraising & Donor Relations

Develop and then manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, cultivating relationships through personal outreach, meetings, and ongoing stewardship.

Develop and support the annual giving strategies, including campaigns, appeals, and donor retention plans.

Prepare proposals, impact reports, and other donor‑facing materials.

Conduct prospect research to identify and prioritize donor opportunities.

Development Operations

Maintain accurate donor records, contact reports, and gift information in the CRM/database.

Generate reports and dashboards to track fundraising progress and campaign performance.

Ensure timely acknowledgment of gifts and compliance with organizational and legal standards.

Assist with budget tracking for development initiatives.

Events & Campaign Support

Create and support planning and execution of fundraising events, donor briefings, and engagement activities.

Coordinate logistics, guest lists, sponsorship fulfillment, and post‑event follow‑up.

Collaboration & Strategic Support

Work with other members of the development team to implement annual development plans and long‑term fundraising strategies.

Support cross‑departmental initiatives that enhance donor engagement and visibility.

Prepare presentations, data summaries, and materials for board or executive leadership as needed.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

Possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated ability to motivate and inspire through the written word

Be able to make relationships with others and network at a high level

3-5 years’ experience raising funds in a non-profit environment

Ability to create prospects and bring them through the development lifecycle

The ability to work flexible hours including occasional nights, holidays and weekends

Valid AZ Driver's License with a clean driving record

The ability to pass both a Federal and local background check
