Are you looking for a certificate to help you better manage your nonprofit and your day-to-day operations? If so, the Nonprofit Operations and Program Impact Certificate is for you.

The Nonprofit Operations and Program Impact Certificate is a certificate of distinction for individuals who wish to gain additional knowledge and skills in operational leadership, program impact and evaluation, developing volunteers, purposeful communication and more! Course content includes the most highly relevant topics needed to manage the operations of a nonprofit organization, as well as how to design, launch and evaluate effective programs that matter to the community. This certificate program is sharply focused on these topics in order to offer the individual a deeply engaging and robust experience.

Established experts noted for their skills and expertise will guide each course. Additionally, course colleagues who are enrolled also share best-practices and offer guidance and support through an interactive, adult-learning environment.

A hallmark of the certificate and its content is the premium placed on immediate and usable knowledge and tools that are offered in accessible ways and provide participants the opportunity to strengthen essential skills and enable them to be more successful in their nonprofit sector work.

Format

The Nonprofit Operations and Program Impact Certificate is achieved by completing four individual certificate online courses. Required courses: NMI 105, NMI 108, & NMI 227 are delivered as separate two week (approx. 15-20 hours total) ASU Online Canvas courses. The final required course NMI144, is delivered as a week long (approx. 8 -10 hours total) ASU Online Canvas course.

After you register for the Nonprofit Operations and Program Impact Certificate, Nonprofit Management Institute staff will work to help you tailor a course schedule that ensures the most effective progress toward your full Certificate goal. You will be issued customized class codes to use when selecting and registering for the courses that best fit your schedule. 

Individual certificates are awarded at the end of each course. Upon completion of all required courses, you will receive the full Nonprofit Operations and Program Impact Certificate. Participants have a total of three years from initial registration to meet the full certificate requirements.

You may still register on a per course basis. Discounts will only apply with Early Bird registrations. Individual course prices are listed below.

High Impact Leadership

During this course, participants will be introduced to current models of leadership and seven core leadership competencies. By using a self-analysis tool, you will identify your leadership strengths and core values. In addition, you will also learn methods for building internal and external relationships and applying those skills to a business setting. Finally, you will also develop a leadership action plan for achieving personal and organizational impact.

In today's environment, doing good work is no longer good enough. With increased demands, competing priorities, and shrunken resources, leaders need to ensure their organizations are attaining mission and audience goals. Decisions about where to find, and how to focus resources to achieve needed impacts, must be grounded in the solid evaluation and evidence of an organization's strategies and programs.

This course explores evaluation systems, from design and implementation, that produce valid, credible, and useful information to assess program impacts within nonprofit organizations.

Strategic Planning Boot Camp

Navigating a new frontier: What's your organization's success plan?

The landscape for today’s nonprofit organizations is filled with new and uncharted territory. The confluence of major health and social issues are calling organizations to intensify the scrutiny and clarification of their business practices and mission drive.

NMI 227: Strategic Planning Boot Camp provides participants with an intensive, hands-on experience using the current best-practices for effective strategic planning in nonprofit governance. This hybrid course is conducted with asynchronous (self-paced) learning via the online ASU Canvas system with a weekly, two-hour synchonous (set time) Zoom presentation with the course Instructor.

In this 2-week online course, you will learn:

  • how to assess internal and external factors influencing the success of your programs
  • how your organization creates value for your clients
  • how to envision alternative, future scenarios with strategic responses for optimal organizational planning

In just two weeks, you will learn how to think strategically, approach your strategic planning creatively within your organization, and create a “Next Steps” Action Plan for implementing what you have learned.

In this course, participants evaluate the topic of change to advance their capacity to effectively champion change within their organization. Participants discuss the underlying motivations and roles of change and examine established models to devise change management plans for overcoming obstacles and implementing change within their organization.
