Cheryl Ruggiero

Cheryl Ruggiero serves as Director of Charitable Giving for The Thunderbirds, where she oversees the organization’s charitable arms, including The Thunderbirds, Thunderbird Foundation, Thunderbirds Charities, Birdies For Charity, WM Phoenix Open donations, and various community projects.

While The Thunderbirds are best known as hosts of the WM Phoenix Open, they have been a cornerstone of the Valley of the Sun for more than 90 years. During tournament season, Cheryl plays a central role in managing key initiatives such as the Tee-Off Luncheon, youth activities during the tournament and serving as liaison to the PGA TOUR Wives Association. The upcoming 2026 WM Phoenix Open will mark her 26th tournament with the organization.

Before joining The Thunderbirds, Cheryl built a strong foundation in the corporate sector, managing and administering operations at Price Club and later Costco. Beyond her professional work, she remains deeply engaged in the community. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for St. Mary’s Food Bank and on the steering committee for PEAK Grantmaking, Rocky Mountain Region.

Cheryl’s strength lies in cultivating meaningful connections throughout the community, linking individuals to new opportunities and nonprofit organizations to valuable partners and volunteers. Her steadfast commitment to advancing philanthropic initiatives drives her professional success and enhances her impact across the Phoenix Valley.
