Service Projects Coordinator

 HandsOn Greater Phoenix is a local 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that puts volunteers to work where they are needed most.  We offer fun, impactful and diverse ways for people to give back to their communities.  This includes an active volunteer event calendar, support for local schools and organizations, and customized service projects for teams and businesses. HandsOn Greater Phoenix is an affiliate of Points of Light, an innovative global alliance of volunteer organizations working to build community through service and civic engagement across the United States and abroad.

Position Overview:

The Service Projects Coordinator is responsible for supporting and/or leading the implementation of high-impact, large-scale corporate service projects.  This includes quarterly initiatives, annual partner engagements and one-time service events. This is a highly physical role, involving extensive work in our tool warehouse and utilizing our tool trailer.  A working knowledge of power tools, paint sprayers, power washers, and landscaping tools, etc. is necessary. This position will work both independently and collaboratively with other team members to ensure successful project completion.  The position will also involve periodic travel (2-10 days at a time).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize and lead customized volunteer projects for HGP’s corporate partners (25-700 volunteers these could be off-site or kit options that take place virtually or on site)
  • Cultivate new and maintain existing relationships with key partner agencies
  • Schedule and conduct site visits to assess feasibility of projects, establish partnerships and set expectations of community partners
  • Load and deliver tools and supplies to and from project sites
  • Develop work scopes, requirements and supply lists for projects
  • Coordinate and execute all day-of logistics to accomplish project goals
  • Maintain extensive tool warehouse, tool trailers and trucks
  • Complete project follow-up with project results and evaluations
  • Research and develop new project models and tasks
  • Maintain relationships with skilled volunteers such as artists/designers, handymen/women and contractors
  • Assist with technology and database management
  • Provide additional programmatic support as needed

Participate in organizational initiatives and special projects as needed/requested

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to pass a background clearance
  • Valid Arizona Driver License, proof of automobile insurance
  • Entry level to three years volunteer management, community service experience or national service a plus
  • Working knowledge of tools, landscaping, painting, etc.
  • High level of computer proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Excellent time manager

Physical Work Environment:

  • Will occasionally work irregular hours including evenings and weekends
  • Will be on your feet at times 6-8 hours
  • Will participate in physical work involved in prepping large-scale volunteer projects- packing, loading/unloading, power washing, cleaning, cutting lumber, painting, landscaping, etc.
  • Will be exposed to warm/hot weather
  • Lift and carry (up to 75 lbs.)
  • Will be required to hook up and drive truck/trailer combo
  • Forklift certification a plus

Salary and Benefits:

The salary range for this position is $40,000 to $48,000, based on experience. Our excellent benefits package includes, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD, generous PTO and potential for remote work (one day/week).
