Terrence Telford: Presentations of Impact 2020

While having the opportunity to be in Public Allies, I have learned to connect avenues in life that I couldn't have imagine existed. I am now able to approach life situations accordingly, and I'm able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. I realize how much I have improved on in life, and things that I am still needing to improve on. Working with the City of Tucson has been such a great experience. I was able to learn about GIS mapping systems and neighborhood engagement which then led to implementing a system for children to know their neighborhoods better. I had to opportunity to volunteer. I enjoyed doing neighborhood clean ups, cleaning parks, and planting trees. Overall, I had the opportunity to start a citywide event called the "Sonoran Caribbean Carnival" which was a major success. Without my experience with Public Allies, none of this would have been possible. I sincerely thank Public Allies, Lou Haiduk, Jake Teskey, Koren Manning, and Rebecca Ruopp. As well as a special thanks to my cohort team! None of this would have been possible without the support of ideas being shared together.

We are a community, and we stand strong. Through shared ideas and collaboration, we will strive and create a space to improve the world around us.
